Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is a 2010 action-adventure stealth game developed by Kojima Productions and published by Konami for the PlayStation Portable. Written, directed, and designed by Hideo Kojima, it is the seventh mainline Metal Gear game and serves as a narrative sequel to Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (2004) and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (2006). Set in 1974, the game follows returning protagonist Snake as he operates the private mercenary organization Militaires Sans Frontières (MSF). When a heavily armed paramilitary force occupies Costa Rica, Snake and MSF are hired to investigate the threat, unveiling a rogue plot centered on the Peace Walker, an AI-powered nuclear-equipped weapon.
